Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
मारुतोद्धूतशिखरै: प्रनृत्त इव पर्वत: ।
पादपै: पत्ऺत्रपुष्पाणि सृजद्भिरभितो नदीम् ॥२-९५-८॥
mārutoddhūtaśikharaiḥ pranṛtta iva parvataḥ । pādapaiḥ pattrapuṣpāṇi sṛjadbhirabhito nadīm ॥2-95-8॥
Translation
With its peaks and trees shaken by the wind, the mountain appears as if it were dancing. These trees are shedding leaves and flowers all around the river.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हवा के झोंकों से हिलते हुए शिखरों और वृक्षों के कारण यह पर्वत ऐसा प्रतीत हो रहा है मानो नृत्य कर रहा हो। ये वृक्ष नदी के दोनों ओर अपने पत्ते और पुष्प बरसा रहे हैं।
English Commentary
In this verse, Rama uses a poetic metaphor (Utpreksha) to entertain Sita, personifying the inanimate mountain. Although the mountain is stationary, the swaying of the trees and peaks due to the wind creates the illusion of dancing. The showering of leaves and flowers into the river adds to the festive imagery. This description serves a psychological purpose: Rama is attempting to shift Sita's focus from the hardships of exile to the vibrant, dynamic beauty of their surroundings. By describing nature as joyful and active (dancing), he subtly encourages a similar lightness of spirit in her.
हिंदी टीका
इस श्लोक में भगवान राम सीता जी का मन बहलाने के लिए 'उत्प्रेक्षा अलंकार' का सुंदर प्रयोग करते हैं। जड़ प्रकृति में चेतन क्रियाओं का आरोपण (Personification) वाल्मीकि की शैली की विशेषता है। पर्वत अचल है, किंतु वायु के वेग से हिलते हुए वृक्षों और शिखरों को देखकर राम कल्पना करते हैं कि पर्वत 'नृत्य' कर रहा है। नदी के जल में गिरते हुए पुष्प ऐसे प्रतीत होते हैं मानो पर्वत अर्घ्य समर्पित कर रहा हो या श्रृंगार कर रहा हो। राम का उद्देश्य सीता को वन के त्रास से दूर कर, प्रकृति के सौंदर्य और उल्लास से जोड़ना है, ताकि वे अपने वियोग और कष्ट को भूल सकें।
