एवम् स देव प्रवरः पूर्वम् कथितवान् कथाम् ।
सनत्कुमारो भगवान् पुरा देवयुगे प्रभुः ॥१-११-११॥
evam sa deva pravaraḥ pūrvam kathitavān kathām |
sanatkumāro bhagavān purā devayuge prabhuḥ ॥1-11-11॥
Translation
Thus, Bhagavan (the glorious), the Lord (mighty), and the foremost among the Devas (celestial beings), Sanatkumara, had narrated this story (prophecy) long ago in the age of the Devas.

पुराने समय में, देव युग में, प्रभु (समर्थ) तथा भगवान (ऐश्वर्यशाली) देवताओं में श्रेष्ठ उन सनत्कुमार ऋषि ने इस प्रकार की कथा (भविष्यवाणी) पहले ही कह दी थी।
English Commentary
This verse establishes the authoritative source of the advice being given by Minister Sumantra to King Dasharatha. Sumantra assures the King that his desire for sons, fulfilled through Sage Rishyasringa's Yajna, is not a mere speculation but a prophecy made long ago. This prophecy was uttered by Bhagavan Sanatkumara in the ancient Devayuga (age of the Devas). Sanatkumara is respectfully referred to as the 'foremost among the Devas' (deva pravaraḥ) and 'Lord' (prabhuḥ), signifying his transcendent knowledge and high spiritual stature. By citing this prophecy, Sumantra seeks to instill confidence and conviction in King Dasharatha, ensuring him that the action he is about to undertake is destined to succeed. Thus, the events unfolding in this section of the Ramayana are presented not as mere chance but as part of a divine plan, foretold by an omniscient sage (Sanatkumara).
