Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आसन् प्रजा धर्मरता रामे शासति नानृताः ।
सर्वे लक्षणसंपन्नाः सर्वे धर्मपरायणाः ॥६-१३१-१०५॥
āsan prajā dharmaratā rāme śāsati nānṛtāḥ |
sarve lakṣaṇasampannāḥ sarve dharmaparāyaṇāḥ ॥6-131-105॥
Translation
While Shri Rama ruled, the subjects were devoted to Dharma and never spoke untruth; all were endowed with noble marks and dedicated to righteousness.
हिंदी अनुवाद
श्री राम के शासन में प्रजा धर्म में लीन थी, कोई झूठ नहीं बोलता था; सभी उत्तम लक्षणों से युक्त और धर्मपरायण थे।
English Commentary
'Na Anritah' (not untruthful) is proof of the society's moral high ground. 'Lakshanasampannah' implies that people had a glow of purity on their faces and bodies. Truth was the core mantra of governance. The Ramayana proves here that only a truthful King can build a truthful society.
हिंदी टीका
'न अनृताः' (झूठ न बोलने वाले) होना समाज की नैतिक उच्चता का प्रमाण है। 'लक्षणसम्पन्नाः' का अर्थ है कि लोगों के चेहरे और शरीर पर सात्विकता की चमक थी। सत्य ही शासन का मूल मन्त्र था। श्री रामायण यहाँ सिद्ध करती है कि एक सत्यवादी राजा ही सत्यनिष्ठ समाज का निर्माण कर सकता है।
