Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सर्वपापैः प्रमुच्येत दीर्घमायुरवाप्नुयात् ।
प्रणम्य शिरसा नित्यं श्रोतव्यं क्षत्रियैर्द्विजात् ॥६-१३१-११७॥
sarvapāpaiḥ pramucyeta dīrghamāyuravāpnuyāt |
praṇamya śirasā nityaṃ śrotavyaṃ kṣatriyairdvijāt ॥6-131-117॥
Translation
Is liberated from all sins and attains a long life. Kshatriyas should listen to it regularly from Brahmanas with bowed heads.

सभी पापों से मुक्त हो जाता है और दीर्घायु प्राप्त करता है। क्षत्रियों को सिर झुकाकर नित्य ब्राह्मणों से इसे सुनना चाहिए।
English Commentary
This mentions the ancient protocol of knowledge transmission. A 'Kshatriya' (ruler) must hear the Ramayana from a 'Brahmana' (the wise) to understand the moral principles of governance. Bowing the head symbolizes humility and surrender to wisdom. Freedom from sin and longevity are the natural results of this discipline.

यहाँ ज्ञान के आदान-प्रदान की प्राचीन मर्यादा का उल्लेख है। 'क्षत्रिय' (शासक) को 'ब्राह्मण' (ज्ञानी) से श्री रामायण सुननी चाहिए ताकि वह शासन के नैतिक सिद्धांतों को समझ सके। सिर झुकाना (प्रणम्य शिरसा) विनम्रता और ज्ञान के प्रति समर्पण का प्रतीक है। पापमुक्ति और दीर्घायु इस अनुशासन के स्वतः प्राप्त होने वाले फल हैं।
