Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
निर्देस्युरभवल्लोको नानर्थः कंचिदस्पृशत् ।
न च स्म वृद्धा बालानां प्रेतकार्याणि कुर्वते ॥६-१३१-९९॥
nirdasyurabhaval loko nānarthaḥ kaṃcidaspṛśat |
na ca sma vṛddhā bālānāṃ pretakāryāṇi kurvate ॥6-131-99॥
Translation
The world became free of thieves and robbers; no calamity touched anyone, and the elders did not have to perform the funeral rites of the young.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सारा संसार चोरों और डाकुओं से रहित हो गया था, किसी को कोई अनर्थ स्पर्श नहीं करता था और वृद्धों को अपने बच्चों का अंतिम संस्कार नहीं करना पड़ता था।
English Commentary
The absence of thieves ('Nirdasyuh') represents the peak of social morality. The fact that 'elders did not bury the young' is the height of natural justice, where death only arrived upon the completion of a full lifespan. This signifies a successful administration where subjects were free from mental agony and the terror of untimely death.
हिंदी टीका
चोरों का न होना (निर्देस्युः) सामाजिक नैतिकता की पराकाष्ठा है। 'वृद्धों द्वारा बच्चों का अंतिम संस्कार न करना' प्राकृतिक न्याय का चरमोत्कर्ष है, जहाँ मृत्यु केवल आयु पूर्ण होने पर ही आती थी। यह शासन की उस सफलता को दर्शाता है जहाँ प्रजा को मानसिक संताप और अकाल मृत्यु का भय नहीं था।
