पश्येष्टदार दारांस्ते भ्रष्टलज्जावगुण्ठितान् ।
बहिर्निष्पतितान् सर्वान् कथं दृष्ट्वा न कुप्यसि ॥६-११४-६३॥
paśyeṣṭadāra dārāṃste bhraṣṭalajjāvaguṇṭhitān |
bahirniṣpatitān sarvān kathaṃ dṛṣṭvā na kupyasi ॥6-114-63॥
Translation
O lover of women! Look at your wives, who have come out having lost their modesty and veils. Seeing them all (in this state), how is it that you do not get angry?
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे स्त्री-प्रेमी! अपनी इन पत्नियों को देखो, जो लज्जा और घूंघट छोड़कर बाहर निकल आई हैं। इन सबको (इस दशा में) देखकर भी आप क्रोधित क्यों नहीं हो रहे?
English Commentary
Mandodari appeals to Ravana's possessive nature. Royal women appearing unveiled in public was a massive taboo and a sign of the kingdom's collapse. She tries to provoke a reaction from the dead king, asking why his famous temper isn't flaring up at this sight. It underscores the finality of death—the fierce protector is gone, leaving his women vulnerable and exposed to the world.

रनिवास की स्त्रियाँ कभी सूर्य को भी नहीं दिखती थीं (असूर्यम्पश्या)। आज वे खुले बालों और बिना पर्दे के रणभूमि में खड़ी हैं। यह किसी भी राजा के लिए अपमान की बात होती। मन्दोदरी रावण के शव से पूछती हैं कि हमेशा मर्यादा और अधिकार जताने वाले तुम आज अपनी पत्नियों की यह दुर्दशा देखकर चुप कैसे हो? यह मृत्यु की निष्ठुर शांति (silence) को दर्शाता है।
