चतुर्दश सहस्राणि रक्षसाम् भीम कर्मणाम् ।
हतानि एकेन रामेण खरः च सह दूषणः ॥ ॥३-३३-१२॥
Caturdaśa sahasrāṇi rakṣasām bhīma karmaṇām । Hatāni ekena rāmeṇa kharaḥ ca saha dūṣaṇaḥ ॥ ॥3-33-12॥

Fourteen thousand Rakshasas of terrible deeds, along with Khara and Dushana, have been killed by a single Rama.

The climax of Shurpanakha’s report involves staggering numbers designed to shock. She quantifies the loss: 14,000 elite warriors (rakshasam bhima karmanam) and the top commanders, Khara and Dushana. The critical detail is ekena Ramena—by a single Rama. This emphasizes the supernatural prowess of the antagonist. By contrasting the massive Rakshasa army against one man, she ensures Ravana cannot dismiss this as a minor skirmish. It demands his immediate and personal attention.
