लक्ष्मण अनुगत श्रीमान् वीक्ष्यमाणो वसुन्धराम् ।
एवम् संभाषमाणौ तौ अन्योन्यम् भ्रातरौ उभौ ॥ ॥३-६४-२४॥
lakṣmaṇa anugata śrīmān vīkṣyamāṇo vasundharām । evam saṃbhāṣamāṇau tau anyonyam bhrātarau ubhau ॥ ॥3-64-24॥
Translation
Followed by Lakshmana, the glorious Rama walked on, carefully observing the earth. In this manner, both brothers conversed with each other.

लक्ष्मण जिनका अनुसरण कर रहे थे, वे श्रीमान (राम) पृथ्वी को ध्यानपूर्वक देखते हुए चल रहे थे। इस प्रकार वे दोनों भाई आपस में वार्तालाप कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
The phrase 'vikshyamano vasundharam' (scrutinizing the earth) reveals Rama's shift to investigative mode. He is looking for footprints, broken twigs, or dropped items. Despite his sorrow, he is referred to as 'Sriman' (the glorious one), suggesting that his inherent nobility remains tarnished by grief. The image of the two brothers conversing while tracking creates a scene of intimacy and shared burden. It underscores that Lakshmana is not just a follower but a partner in this devastating quest.
हिंदी टीका
'वीक्ष्यमाणो वसुन्धराम्' (पृथ्वी को देखते हुए) वाक्यांश अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है। श्रीराम अब हवा में नहीं देख रहे, बल्कि सुराग (पदचिह्न या आभूषण) खोजने के लिए धरती की स्कैनिंग कर रहे हैं। यह एक योद्धा और खोजी (tracker) की दृष्टि है। 'श्रीमान्' शब्द का प्रयोग विरोधाभासी लग सकता है क्योंकि राम दुखी हैं, किन्तु वाल्मीकि जी यह याद दिलाते हैं कि दुख में भी राम की 'श्री' (कांति/महिमा) कम नहीं होती। दोनों भाइयों का संवाद उनके बीच के गहरे समन्वय और सांत्वना का परिचायक है।
