यदि तस्य आगमः कश्चित् आर्या वा सा अथ लक्ष्यते ।
बाढम् इति एव काकुत्स्थः प्रस्थितो दक्षिणाम् दिशम् ॥ ॥३-६४-२३॥
yadi tasya āgamaḥ kaścit āryā vā sā atha lakṣyate । bāḍham iti eva kākutsthaḥ prasthito dakṣiṇām diśam ॥ ॥3-64-23॥
Translation
"Perhaps some news of her may be found there, or the noble lady herself may be seen." Saying "Very well," Kakutstha (Rama) set out toward the southern direction.

"संभव है वहाँ उसका (सीता का) कोई समाचार मिले अथवा वह आर्या (सीता) ही दिखाई दे जाए।" "बहुत अच्छा," (बाढम्) ऐसा कहकर काकुत्स्थ (राम) दक्षिण दिशा की ओर चल पड़े।
English Commentary
Rama’s immediate agreement ("Badham" or "Very well") shows his reliance on Lakshmana’s judgment and his desperation to cling to any lead. The use of the clan name 'Kakutstha' reminds the reader of Rama's warrior lineage—he is a man of action, not just emotion. The hope that they might find "news" or the "noble lady" (Arya) herself propels the narrative forward. This moment marks the transition from aimless searching to a directed pursuit, guided by the subtle signs provided by the natural world.

श्रीराम का तुरंत 'बाढम्' (तथास्तु/बहुत अच्छा) कहना उनकी तत्परता और लक्ष्मण पर विश्वास को दर्शाता है। 'काकुत्स्थ' विशेषण श्रीराम के महान इक्ष्वाकु वंश और उनके क्षत्रिय धर्म को स्मरण कराता है—वे शोक में भी कर्मठ हैं। 'आर्या' शब्द सीता जी के लिए सम्मानसूचक है। यहाँ अनिश्चितता के बीच भी आशा की एक किरण है। राम और लक्ष्मण अब केवल भटक नहीं रहे हैं, बल्कि एक निर्दिष्ट लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़ रहे हैं, जो कथा को वनवास से युद्धकाण्ड की ओर ले जाने वाला पहला कदम है।
