पुनरेवं ब्रुवाणं तं भरतं लक्ष्मणाग्रज: ।
प्रत्युवाच तत: श्रीमान् ज्ञातिमध्ये ऽभिसत्कृत: ॥२-१०७-१॥
Punarevaṃ bruvāṇaṃ taṃ bharataṃ lakṣmaṇāgrajaḥ |
Pratyuvāca tataḥ śrīmān jñātimadhye 'bhisatkṛtaḥ ॥2-107-1॥
Translation
To Bharata, who was speaking thus again and again, the glorious elder brother of Lakshmana (Rama), who was highly honored amidst his kinsmen, replied.

इस प्रकार बार-बार आग्रह करते हुए भरत से, भाई-बंधुओं के बीच सम्मानित, श्रीमान् लक्ष्मण-अग्रज (श्रीराम) ने उत्तर दिया।
English Commentary
This marks the beginning of Sarga 107, where Rama shifts from emotional exchanges to logical and Dharmic reasoning. Valmiki uses the epithet 'Lakshmanagrajah' (elder brother of Lakshmana) and 'Shriman' (glorious/majestic). This suggests that despite wearing hermit's robes, Rama retains his regal aura and authority. The setting 'jnatimadhye' (amidst kinsmen) is crucial; Rama's reply serves as a declaration of code of conduct for the entire clan, not just Bharata. Rama remains composed regarding his decision, demonstrating his unwavering nature. He now begins to steer the conversation from sentimentality to the rigid requirements of 'Satya' (truth) and 'Dharma' (duty).
