सो ऽहं वनमिदं प्राप्तो निर्जनं लक्ष्मणान्वित: ।
सीतया चाप्रतिद्वन्द्व: सत्यवादे स्थित: पितु: ॥२-१०७-८॥
So 'haṃ vanamidaṃ prāpto nirjanaṃ lakṣmaṇānvitaḥ |
Sītayā cāpratidvandvaḥ satyavāde sthitaḥ pituḥ ॥2-107-8॥
Translation
Thus, standing firm on the truthful word of my father, I have arrived in this uninhabited forest with Lakshmana and Sita, free from any rivalry or conflict.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सो मैं, पिता के सत्यवचन की मर्यादा में स्थित होकर, सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ इस निर्जन वन में आ गया हूँ। मेरा किसी से कोई विरोध (द्वंद्व) नहीं है।
English Commentary
Rama defines his current existence. 'Satyavade sthitah pituh' (standing in the truth of the father) is his primary identity now. He is accompanied by Lakshmana and Sita. The term 'Apratidvandvah' is significant; it means he is without a rival, without conflict, or unchallenged. In this context, it signifies that Rama accepts the exile without mental struggle or animosity towards Bharata or Kaikeyi. He is at peace with his dharma. He assures Bharata that there is no bad blood, and his conscience is clear because he is upholding the supreme value of Truth.

'सोऽहं' (वह मैं)—राम अपने वर्तमान स्वरूप को स्वीकार करते हैं। 'सत्यवादे स्थित: पितु:'—यह वाक्यांश राम के जीवन का मूल मंत्र है। वे वन में कष्ट भोगने नहीं, बल्कि पिता के सत्य की रक्षा करने आए हैं। 'अप्रतिद्वन्द्व:' शब्द बहुत गहरा है। इसका अर्थ है कि राम के मन में किसी के प्रति शत्रुता, प्रतिस्पर्धा या राज्य छीने जाने का क्षोभ नहीं है। वे निष्कंटक भाव से वन में हैं। यह भरत को आश्वस्त करने के लिए है कि राम को वनवास से कोई शिकायत नहीं है, इसलिए भरत को भी राज्य स्वीकारने में संकोच नहीं करना चाहिए।
