Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सत्येन लोकान् जयति दीनान् दानेन राघवः ।
गुरून् शुश्रूषया वीरो धनुशा युधि शात्रवान् ॥२-१२-२९॥
satyena lokān jayati dīnān dānena rāghavaḥ । gurūn śuśrūṣayā vīro dhanuśā yudhi śātravān ॥2-12-29॥
Translation
Raghava conquers the worlds with truth, the poor with charity, the teachers/elders with service, and enemies in battle with his bow.

राघव सत्य से लोकों को, दान से दीनों को, सेवा से गुरुजनों को और युद्ध में धनुष से शत्रुओं को जीत लेता है।
English Commentary
This famous verse encapsulates the four-dimensional perfection of Rama. He possesses the tools to conquer every sphere of life: Truth for the spiritual/moral worlds, Charity for the needy, Service for elders/mentors, and Martial power for enemies. Dasharatha illustrates that Rama is the complete package—neither just a pacifist saint nor just a brute warrior. He balances softness (charity/service) with strength (bow). To exile such a multifaceted leader is to rob the kingdom of its ideal protector and benefactor.

यह श्लोक राम के व्यक्तित्व के चार आयामों को संक्षेप में प्रस्तुत करता है। यह एक 'चतुर्भुज' विजय है। आध्यात्मिक जगत में सत्य ही बल है, सामाजिक जगत में दान, पारिवारिक/शैक्षिक जगत में सेवा, और राजनीतिक/सैन्य जगत में शक्ति (धनुष)। दशरथ बता रहे हैं कि राम पूर्ण हैं—वे न तो केवल संत हैं और न ही केवल योद्धा। उनमें कोमलता और कठोरता का अद्भुत संतुलन है। ऐसे सर्वगुण संपन्न व्यक्ति को राज्य से वंचित करना साक्षात् धर्म और योग्यता का अपमान है। यह सुशासन (Good Governance) के लिए आवश्यक गुणों की सूची भी है।
