अथ भूमि प्रदेशज्ञाः सूत्र कर्म विशारदाः ।
स्व कर्म अभिरताः शूराः खनका यन्त्रकाः तथा ॥२-८०-१॥
atha bhūmi pradeśajñāḥ sūtra karma viśāradāḥ |
sva karma abhiratāḥ śūrāḥ khanakā yantrakāḥ tathā ॥2-80-1॥
Translation
Thereafter, those knowledgeable about the terrain (topographers), experts in thread-work (surveyors), brave men dedicated to their duties, excavators, and mechanics set forth.

तत्पश्चात भूमि के स्वरूप को जानने वाले (भूगोल वेत्ता), सूत्र-कर्म (नाप-जोख) में निपुण, अपने कार्यों में लीन रहने वाले शूरवीर, खुदाई करने वाले तथा यन्त्र-विद्या के जानकार लोग आगे चले।
