एवम् उक्त्वा तु धर्म आत्मा भरतः भ्रातृ वत्सलः ।
समीपस्थम् उवाच इदम् सुमन्त्रम् मन्त्र कोविदम् ॥ ॥२-८२-२१॥
Evam uktvā tu dharma ātmā Bharataḥ bhrātṛ vatsalaḥ । Samīpastham uvāca idam Sumantram mantra kovidam ॥ ॥2-82-21॥
Translation
"Having spoken thus, the righteous Bharata, who was affectionate towards his brother, spoke these words to Sumantra, the expert in counsel, who was standing nearby."

"ऐसा कहकर, धर्मात्मा और भाई से स्नेह रखने वाले भरत ने पास ही खड़े मंत्र-विशारद (सलाहकार) सुमन्त्र से यह बात कही।"
English Commentary
The narrative bridges speech to action. Bharata turns to Sumantra, the key figure in the administration and the one who drove Rama to the forest. Sumantra is described as mantra kovidam (expert in counsel), acknowledging his senior status. Bharata initiates the formal command structure, utilizing the resources of the state which he technically heads, to execute his personal mission of retrieving Rama.

भरत अब कार्रवाई के मोड़ में हैं। सुमन्त्र दशरथ के सबसे विश्वासपात्र मंत्री और सारथी थे। उन्हें 'मन्त्र कोविदम्' (सलाह देने में निपुण/वेदों का ज्ञाता) कहा गया है। भरत का सुमन्त्र को संबोधित करना यह दर्शाता है कि वे पुरानी व्यवस्था का सम्मान करते हैं और राम को वापस लाने के लिए सबसे अनुभवी व्यक्ति की सहायता ले रहे हैं। 'भ्रातृ वत्सलः' विशेषण भरत की प्रेरणा (Motivation) को पुनः रेखांकित करता है—यह सब भाई के प्रेम के कारण है।
