एवम् उक्तः तु भरतः निषाद अधिपतिम् गुहम् ।
प्रत्युवाच महा प्राज्ञो वाक्यम् हेतु अर्थ सम्हितम् ॥ ॥२-८५-१॥
evam uktaḥ tu bharataḥ niṣāda adhipatim guham । pratyuvāca mahā prājño vākyam hetu artha samhitam ॥ ॥2-85-1॥
Translation
Being addressed thus, the immensely wise Bharata replied to Guha, the King of Nishadhas, with words that were full of reason and significance.
हिंदी अनुवाद
गुह के ऐसा कहने पर, महाबुद्धिमान भरत ने निषादराज गुह को युक्ति और अर्थ से युक्त (सारगर्भित) उत्तर दिया।
English Commentary
Bharata is described here as "mahā prājñaḥ" (greatly wise). Faced with Guha's lavish offer, Bharata must navigate a delicate social situation: declining the feast (due to his ascetic vow/grief) without offending the host. The text notes his reply is "hetu artha samhitam"—full of logic and meaning. Bharata does not simply react emotionally; he responds with the gravitas of a statesman and the focus of a devotee, ensuring his words convey the right purpose (finding Rama) while acknowledging the hospitality.

यहाँ भरत को 'महाप्राज्ञो' (महाबुद्धिमान) कहा गया है। यद्यपि गुह ने प्रेमवश बहुत से उपहार और विश्राम का प्रस्ताव दिया, परन्तु भरत अपनी मर्यादा और उद्देश्य को नहीं भूले हैं। उनका उत्तर 'हेतु-अर्थ संहितम्' है, अर्थात वह तर्कसंगत और अर्थपूर्ण है। भरत भावनाओं में बहकर अपना व्रत नहीं तोड़ते, न ही गुह का अपमान करते हैं। वे एक संतुलित उत्तर देते हैं जो गुह के प्रेम का मान भी रखता है और उनकी अपनी तपस्वी जीवनशैली के संकल्प को भी स्पष्ट करता है।
