Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अन्नम् उच्च अवचम् भक्ष्याः फलानि विविधानि च ।
रामाय अभ्यवहार अर्थम् बहु च उपहृतम् मया ॥२-८७-१५॥
Annam ucca-avacam bhakṣyāḥ phalāni vividhāni ca |
Rāmāya abhyavahāra-artham bahu ca upahṛtam mayā ॥2-87-15॥
Translation
(Guha said) I brought various kinds of food, both high quality and common, edibles, and diverse fruits in great quantity for Rama's consumption.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(गुह ने कहा) मैंने राम के भोजन के लिए उच्च और सामान्य (विभिन्न प्रकार का) अन्न, भक्ष्य पदार्थ और अनेक प्रकार के फल बहुत अधिक मात्रा में उन्हें अर्पित किए थे।
English Commentary
Guha describes his offering using the terms ucca-avacam (high and low/varied), indicating a wide assortment of foods ranging from royal-worthy delicacies to simple forest produce. The key here is the abundance (bahu). Guha did not hold back; he offered a feast suitable for a king. This reflects the Bhakti (devotion) aspect where the devotee offers everything available to the Lord. Guha wants Bharata to know that the lack of comfort Rama experienced was not due to a lack of hospitality on Guha’s part, but due to Rama's own choice, as explained in the subsequent verses.

गुह की भक्ति 'बहु च उपहृतम्' (बहुत अधिक लाया गया) में झलकती है। 'उच्च अवचम्' (ऊँच-नीच) का अर्थ है कि गुह ने अपनी सामर्थ्य अनुसार वन में उपलब्ध हर प्रकार का उत्तम और साधारण भोजन जुटाया। एक भक्त अपने भगवान या प्रिय अतिथि के लिए विकल्पों की कमी नहीं रखना चाहता। गुह ने यह नहीं सोचा कि राम क्या पसंद करेंगे, उन्होंने बस 'सर्वस्व' अर्पित कर दिया। यह समर्पण का भाव है। गुह अपनी सेवा का वर्णन यह दिखाने के लिए कर रहे हैं कि उन्होंने राम को कष्ट नहीं होने देना चाहा था।
