त्वं मामेवङ्गतं मत्वा प्रसादं कर्तुमर्हसि ।
शंस मे भगवन् राम: क्व सम्प्रति महीपति: ॥२-९०-१८॥
tvaṃ māmevaṅgataṃ matvā prasādaṃ kartumarhasi |
śaṃsa me bhagavan rāmaḥ kva samprati mahīpatiḥ ॥2-90-18॥
Translation
"Therefore, knowing me to have come with such intent, you ought to show me grace. Tell me, O Revered One, where is Rama, the Lord of the Earth, right now?"
हिंदी अनुवाद
"अतः, मुझे इस प्रकार (शरणागत/भक्त) आया हुआ जानकर, आप मुझ पर कृपा करें। हे भगवन्! मुझे बताएँ कि इस समय महीपति (पृथ्वी के स्वामी) राम कहाँ हैं?"
English Commentary
Having laid bare his heart, Bharata makes his request. He asks the Sage to accept his true intent (evaṅgataṃ) and grant him the favor (prasādaṃ) of information. Significantly, he refers to Rama as mahīpatiḥ (Lord of the Earth). Even though Rama is in exile wearing bark, for Bharata, he remains the reigning monarch. This choice of word serves as a final proof of Bharata's loyalty—he does not see himself as the king, but merely a searcher looking for the true sovereign. He relies on the Sage's omniscience to guide him.

अपनी स्थिति स्पष्ट करने के बाद, भरत अब ऋषि से याचना करते हैं। 'एवङ्गतं' (इस अवस्था/मनोभाव में आया हुआ) का अर्थ है—एक भक्त और सेवक के रूप में। भरत राम के लिए 'महीपति:' (पृथ्वी के राजा) शब्द का उपयोग करते हैं, जो दर्शाता है कि वन में होने के बावजूद, भरत की दृष्टि में राम ही एकमात्र वैध राजा हैं। वे ऋषि से 'प्रसाद' (कृपा/जानकारी) मांग रहे हैं क्योंकि एक त्रिकालदर्शी ऋषि ही वन के अज्ञात मार्गों में राम का सटीक स्थान बता सकते हैं। यह भरत की व्याकुलता और लक्ष्य के प्रति एकाग्रता को दर्शाता है।
