ततः प्रीत मनाः तेन विश्वस्तः स महाकपिः ।
किष्किंधाम् राम सहितो जगाम च गुहाम् तदा ॥१-१-६९॥
tataḥ prīta manāḥ tena viśvastaḥ sa mahākapiḥ । kiṣkindhām rāma sahito jagāma ca guhām tadā ॥1-1-69॥
Translation
Then, being delighted in mind by that (feat of strength), and completely trusting (in Śrī Rāma), that great Vānara (Sugrīva), accompanied by Śrī Rāma, proceeded towards the cave called Kiṣkindhā (Vāli's dwelling) at that time.

तब उस (परावक्रम) से, वह महाकपि (महान वानर) सुग्रीव संतुष्ट चित्त वाले और (श्री राम पर) पूर्णतः विश्वस्त होकर श्री राम के साथ किष्किंधा नामक गुफा (वाली के निवास स्थान) की ओर चल पड़े।
English Commentary
This verse concludes the episode of the trial by fire, detailing the immediate consequence of Śrī Rāma's miraculous display of strength, specifically throwing the Dundubhi carcass and piercing the seven Sāla trees. Witnessing these extraordinary feats, the mind of the Great Vānara (Mahākapi) Sugrīva became delighted (prīta manāḥ). All his prior doubts were dissolved, and he became completely trusting (viśvastaḥ) in Śrī Rāma. This conviction formed the immediate basis for action. Then (tataḥ), without any further hesitation, and accompanied by Rāma (rāma sahito), he proceeded (jagāma) towards the cave called Kiṣkindhā. Kiṣkindhā was the capital of the Vānara kingdom and the dwelling of his mighty brother, Vāli, a place Sugrīva had previously feared to approach. This movement symbolizes that Sugrīva, having attained firm faith in Śrī Rāma's vow and prowess, was now prepared to face his enemy Vāli to reclaim his kingdom and wife, and subsequently fulfill his duty of friendship towards Śrī Rāma.

यह श्लोक श्री राम द्वारा दुंदुभि के शरीर को फेंकने और सप्त साल भेदन जैसे अद्भुत पराक्रम के प्रदर्शन के तात्कालिक परिणाम को दर्शाता है। इन चमत्कारी कार्यों को देखकर, महाकपि सुग्रीव का मन प्रीत मनाः (संतुष्ट और प्रसन्न) हो गया। उनका सारा संदेह (शंका) दूर हो गया और वे श्री राम पर पूर्ण रूप से विश्वस्तः (भरोसा करने वाले) बन गए। यह विश्वास ही सुग्रीव के लिए अब कार्यवाही का आधार बना। तदा (तब), उन्होंने बिना किसी संकोच के, अपने नव मित्र राम सहितो (श्री राम के साथ) किष्किंधाम् नामक गुफा की ओर जगाम (चल दिए)। 'किष्किंधा' उस समय उनके बड़े भाई वाली का निवास स्थान और वानर राज्य की राजधानी थी, जहाँ जाने से सुग्रीव अब तक भयभीत थे। यह गमन इस बात का प्रतीक है कि सुग्रीव, श्री राम के प्रतिज्ञा और पराक्रम पर दृढ़ विश्वास के कारण, अब अपने शत्रु वाली का सामना करने के लिए तैयार थे, ताकि वे अपना राज्य और पत्नी वापस प्राप्त कर सकें और फिर श्री राम के प्रति अपनी मित्रता का कर्तव्य निभा सकें।
