गतेषु तेषु विप्रेषु मंत्रिणः तान् नराधिपः ।
विसर्जयित्वा स्वम् वेश्म प्रविवेश महामतिः ॥१-१२-२२॥

visarjayitvā svam veśma praviveśa mahāmatiḥ ॥1-12-22॥
Translation
When those Brahmanas had departed, the high-minded King, having dismissed the ministers, entered his own palace.

उन ब्राह्मणों (ऋषियों) के चले जाने पर, उस महाबुद्धिमान राजा (दशरथ) ने उन मंत्रियों को विदा करके अपने महल में प्रवेश किया।
English Commentary
The epithet 'mahamatih' (great-minded or wise) used for King Dasharatha here is significant. After the intense deliberations regarding the bringing of Sage Rishyasringa and the planning of the sacrifice, the King follows strict royal protocol. He first ensures the departure of the sages, then dismisses his ministers, and only then retires to his private chambers. This verse highlights his organized nature and composure. Despite his deep anxiety for an heir, he maintains the decorum of the court, dealing with matters step-by-step rather than in haste.
