अपि शांतेन मनसा गुरुः मे कुशिकात्मज ।
इह आगतेन रामेण पूजितेन अभिवादितः ॥ ॥१-५१-९॥
api śāṃtena manasā guruḥ me kuśikātmaja |
iha āgatena rāmeṇa pūjitena abhivāditaḥ ॥1-51-9॥
Translation
O Son of Kushika (Vishwamitra)! Did my mother (Ahalya), with a peaceful mind, offer hospitality and salutations to the worshipful Sri Rama who arrived there?

हे कुशिकात्मज (विश्वामित्र)! क्या मेरी माता ने शांत चित्त होकर, यहाँ आए हुए पूजनीय श्रीराम का सत्कार और अभिवादन किया?
English Commentary
In this verse, Satananda inquires anxiously about his mother, Ahalya, addressing Sage Vishwamitra as the descendant of Kusha. The phrase "shantena manasa" (with a peaceful mind) is crucial. After suffering the agony of a curse for years, living in isolation and penance, Satananda wants to ensure that her internal turmoil has ceased upon seeing Sri Rama. He wishes to know if she was mentally composed enough to recognize the divinity of Rama and offer him due worship. This reflects the deep concern of a son for his mother’s spiritual and emotional rehabilitation after a prolonged period of suffering.
