स तस्य वचनम् श्रुत्वा सांत्व पूर्वम् अशंकितः ।
भूयः प्रणय दृष्टार्थम् लक्ष्मणो वाक्यम् अब्रवीत् ॥४-३३-४२॥
sa tasya vacanam śrutvā sāṃtva pūrvam aśaṃkitaḥ |
bhūyaḥ praṇaya dṛṣṭārtham lakṣmaṇo vākyam abravīt ॥4-33-42॥
Translation
Hearing her words, which were preceded by conciliation and free from apprehension, Lakshmana spoke again, his words affectionate yet focused on the reality (of the grievance).

उसके उस सांत्वनापूर्ण और विश्वास भरे वचनों को सुनकर, लक्ष्मण ने पुनः प्रेम और यथार्थ (दोष दर्शाते हुए) से युक्त वचन कहे।
English Commentary
The tone of the interaction shifts decisively here. Tara's fearless and soothing approach breaks the ice. Lakshmana responds 'ashankita' (without hesitation/suspicion). His reply is described as 'pranaya drishtartham'—a complex mix of affection (due to their alliance) and a clear focus on the 'artha' (objective/matter at hand). He does not shout; he explains. Tara has successfully created a space where Lakshmana can articulate his grievance rationally rather than acting it out physically. The immediate threat of destruction has passed.

तारा की रणनीति सफल रही। लक्ष्मण, जो पहले बोलने को भी तैयार नहीं थे, अब संवाद कर रहे हैं। तारा के वचनों ने उन्हें 'अशंकित' (शंका रहित) कर दिया। लक्ष्मण का उत्तर 'प्रणय दृष्टार्थम्' है—अर्थात उसमें पुराना स्नेह तो है, किन्तु 'दृष्टार्थम्' (प्रयोजन या यथार्थ) भी है। वे अपनी शिकायत नहीं भूले हैं, लेकिन अब उनके स्वर में क्रोध की जगह उलाहना और तर्क आ गया है। यह संवाद अब एक हिंसक संघर्ष से एक पारिवारिक या मित्रवत शिकायत में बदल गया है।
