ततो हरिजटा नाम राक्षसी वाक्यमब्रवीत् ।
विवृत्य नयने कोपान्मार्जारसदृशेक्षणा ।

vivṛtya nayane kopānmārjārasadṛśekṣaṇā ॥5-21-8॥
Translation
Then, a Rakshasi named Harijata, having eyes like a cat, rolled her eyes in anger and spoke these words.

तदनन्तर क्रोध से अपने नेत्रों को घुमाती हुई, बिल्ली के समान आँखों वाली 'हरिजटा' नामक राक्षसी ने यह वचन कहा।
English Commentary
The torment continues with a new interlocutor, Harijata (Green-matted-hair). Valmiki focuses on her terrifying gaze, describing her as 'mārjārasadṛśekṣaṇā' (cat-eyed). The act of rolling her eyes ('vivṛtya nayane') in anger adds a kinetic, menacing element to her description. The imagery evokes a predator toying with a mouse. This verse serves as a transition to the next set of threats, maintaining the high tension and the atmosphere of claustrophobic terror surrounding Sita in the Ashoka Vatika.

एकजटा के बाद दूसरी राक्षसी 'हरिजटा' (हरी जटाओं वाली) आती है। उसका रूप और भी डरावना वर्णित है—'मार्जारसदृशेक्षणा' (बिल्ली जैसी आँखों वाली)। 'विवृत्य नयने' (आँखों को घुमाते/नचाते हुए) क्रिया उसके क्रोध और उन्माद को प्रदर्शित करती है। यह क्रमबद्ध मानसिक प्रताड़ना है; एक के बाद एक राक्षसियाँ अपने भयानक रूपों और तर्कों के साथ सीता पर दबाव बना रही हैं। हरिजटा का बिल्ली जैसी आँखों वाला होना उसकी हिंसक और कपटी प्रकृति का संकेत है, जो अब सीता को डराने का प्रयास करेगी।
