पश्यतस्तानि रुदतस्ताम्यतश्च पुनः पुनः।
प्रादीपयन् दाशरथेस्तानि शोकहुताशनम् ।
।
॥५-३५-४१॥
Paśyatastāni rudatastāmyataśca punaḥ punaḥ |
prādīpayan dāśarathestāni śokahutāśanam ॥5-35-41॥
Translation
As he looked at them, wept, and suffered again and again, those ornaments kindled the fire of grief in the son of Dasharatha.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उन आभूषणों को बार-बार देखते हुए, रोते हुए और कष्ट पाते हुए दशरथ नंदन राम के शोक रूपी अग्नि को उन आभूषणों ने और अधिक प्रज्वलित कर दिया।
English Commentary
Hanuman uses the metaphor of fire (hutāśanam) to describe Rama's grief. The ornaments served as fuel that prādīpayan (ignited/inflamed) this fire. The cycle of looking, weeping, and suffering (tāmyataḥ) repeated again and again (punaḥ punaḥ). Instead of bringing comfort, the tangible proof of Sita's abduction intensified Rama's pain, transforming his sorrow into an active, burning agony. This description conveys to Sita that her absence is an ongoing torture for Rama.

यहाँ रूपक अलंकार का सुंदर प्रयोग है। राम का शोक 'हुताशन' (अग्नि) है और सीता के आभूषण उस अग्नि में घी का काम कर रहे हैं। जितना अधिक राम उन्हें देखते ('पश्यत:'), उतना ही वे रोते ('रुदत:') और शिथिल होते ('ताम्यत:')। 'पुनः पुनः' (बार-बार) शब्द राम की विवशता को दर्शाता है; वे न तो उन आभूषणों को हटा पा रहे थे और न ही उन्हें देखकर शांत रह पा रहे थे। सीता की स्मृतियाँ उन्हें जला रही थीं।
