मेरुमन्दरसङ्काशा मत्ता इव महागजाः ।
छादयन्त इवाकाशं महाकाया महाबलाः ।
।
॥५-६१-३॥
merumandarasaṅkāśā mattā iva mahāgajāḥ । chādayanta ivākāśaṃ mahākāyā mahābalāḥ । । ॥5-61-3॥
Translation
Resembling Mount Meru and Mandara, like intoxicated elephants, those huge-bodied and mighty Vanaras moved as if covering the entire sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरु और मन्दराचल पर्वत के समान विशाल, मतवाले हाथियों जैसे, विशाल शरीर और महाबल वाले वे वानर आकाश को ढकते हुए से (चल रहे थे)।
English Commentary
This verse paints a majestic picture of the Vanara army's return. Using similes of massive mountains (Meru and Mandara) and intoxicated elephants, the poet emphasizes their sheer size and revitalized power. The phrase "covering the sky" suggests a massive formation that blocks out the sun, illustrating their collective strength. Unlike their search mission, where they were scattered and anxious, they now move as a cohesive, overwhelming force of nature, buoyed by the success of finding Sita.

यहाँ वानर सेना की वापसी की उड़ान का भव्य चित्रण है। उपमा अलंकार का प्रयोग करते हुए वाल्मीकि जी उनकी तुलना विशाल पर्वतों (मेरु और मन्दर) से करते हैं, जो उनकी स्थिरता और शक्ति का प्रतीक है। "आकाश को ढकते हुए" (छादयन्त इवाकाशं) वाक्यांश उनकी विशाल संख्या और सामूहिक आकार को दर्शाता है। वे अब हताश नहीं हैं, बल्कि 'मत्त गजों' (मदमस्त हाथियों) की भांति विजय के उत्साह में झूमते हुए लौट रहे हैं। यह दृश्य उनकी शक्ति और मनोबल के पुनरुत्थान को दर्शाता है।
