Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
न हि ते राजपुत्रं तं चीरकृष्णाजिनाम्बरम् ।
परिभोक्तुं व्यवस्यन्ति पौरा वै धर्मवत्सलम् ॥६-१२८-३३॥
na hi te rājaputraṃ taṃ cīrakṛṣṇājināmbaram |
paribhoktuṃ vyavasyanti paurā vai dharmavatsalam ॥6-128-33॥
Translation
Indeed, the citizens did not dare to urge that prince, who was fond of Dharma and wore bark and deerskin, to enjoy luxuries.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वे नागरिक उस धर्मवत्सल राजपुत्र (भरत) को, जो वल्कल और मृगचर्म पहने हुए थे, भोग-विलास की वस्तुओं का उपभोग करने के लिए विवश नहीं करते थे।
English Commentary
The respect Bharata commands is absolute. The citizens, seeing his austerity, do not tempt him with pleasures ('paribhoktum'). They understand his 'Dharmavatsalam' (love for Dharma). This silence of the citizens is a mark of their reverence for his vow.
हिंदी टीका
नागरिक भरत का इतना सम्मान करते थे कि वे उन्हें भोग-विलास के लिए प्रेरित करने का साहस नहीं करते थे। वे भरत के व्रत की गंभीरता को समझते थे। 'धर्मवत्सलम्'—भरत धर्म के प्रेमी हैं, सत्ता के नहीं। हनुमान जी ने यह सब देखा और समझ लिया कि श्री राम का संदेह निर्मूल है।
