पक्षिणश्च मृगाः सर्वे प्रत्यादित्यं रुदन्ति च ।
करालो विकटो मुण्डः पुरुषः कृष्णपिङ्गलः ॥६-३५-३४॥
pakṣiṇaśca mṛgāḥ sarve pratyādityaṃ rudanti ca |
karālo vikaṭo muṇḍaḥ puruṣaḥ kṛṣṇapiṅgalaḥ ॥6-35-34॥
Translation
'All birds and animals are crying facing the sun. A terrible, monstrous, bald, black and tawny-colored man...'

'सभी पक्षी और पशु सूर्य की ओर मुख करके रो रहे हैं। एक भयानक, विकराल, मुंडा हुआ, काला और पिंगल वर्ण का पुरुष...'
English Commentary
Animals crying facing the sun signifies an appeal against the cosmic order or mourning the setting sun of Ravana's glory. The description of the terrifying man is the personification of 'Kala' (Time/Death) itself.

सूर्य की ओर मुख करके रोना शासन सत्ता (सूर्य) के अस्त होने का संकेत है। श्लोक 34 और 36 जुड़े हुए हैं (बीच में एक श्लोक लुप्त या पाठ भेद हो सकता है)। भयानक पुरुष का दर्शन 'काल पुरुष' का दर्शन है।
