मा बाष्पशोकाभिहता समीक्ष्य तौ भ्रातरौ देवसमप्रभावौ ।
विनर्कयन्ती निधनं तयोः सा दुःखान्विता वाक्यमिदं जगाद ॥६-४७-२४॥
mā bāṣpaśokābhihatā samīkṣya tau bhrātarau devasamaprabhāvau |
vinarkayantī nidhanaṃ tayoḥ sā duḥkhānvitā vākyamidam jagāda ॥6-47-24॥
Translation
Seeing those two brothers of god-like power, overcome with tears and grief, and concluding that they had met their death, she spoke these words filled with sorrow.
हिंदी अनुवाद
देवताओं के समान प्रभाव वाले उन दोनों भाइयों को देखकर, आँसुओं और शोक से व्याकुल वह (सीता) उनके निधन का निश्चय करती हुई, दुख से भरकर यह वचन बोली।
English Commentary
Although Shri Rama and Lakshmana were only unconscious, Sita concluded they were dead ('vinarkayanti nidhanam'). This marked the success of Ravana's plan. In extreme grief, judgement is often clouded.
हिंदी टीका
यद्यपि श्री राम और लक्ष्मण केवल मूर्छित थे, सीता जी ने उन्हें मृत समझ लिया ('विनर्कयन्ती निधनं')। यह रावण की योजना की सफलता थी। शोक के अतिरेक में विवेक लुप्त हो जाता है।
