एकः कार्याणि कुरुते तम् आहुर् मध्यमम् नरम् ।
गुण दोषाव् अनिश्चित्य त्यक्त्वा दैव व्यपाश्रयम् ॥६-६-१०॥

English Commentary
(Commentary for 8-10): Ravana defines the hierarchy of leadership. The 'Purushottama' (Best Man) is inclusive; he consults allies ('mitra') and elders ('adhika'), balancing human effort with respect for destiny ('daiva'). The 'Madhyama' (Mediocre) is solitary; he thinks and acts alone, ignoring the collective wisdom. Ironically, Ravana acted as a 'Madhyama' or worse when abducting Sita (ignoring Maricha's advice), but now seeks to act as 'Uttama' by calling this council.
