अत्र एनम् हि महाभागाः सर्व भूत हिते रताः ।
अतिथिम् पर्णशालायाम् राघवम् संन्यवेशयन् ॥३-१-१५॥
atra enam hi mahābhāgāḥ sarva bhūta hite ratāḥ |
atithim parṇaśālāyām rāghavam saṃnyaveśayan ॥3-1-15॥
Translation
Those highly fortunate sages, who were devoted to the welfare of all beings, accommodated the guest Raghava in a leaf-hut.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उन महाभाग्यशाली और सभी प्राणियों के हित में लगे रहने वाले ऋषियों ने अतिथि राम को पर्णकुटी (पत्तों की कुटिया) में स्थान दिया/बैठाया।
English Commentary
Two key adjectives describe the sages here: 'Mahābhāgāḥ' (extremely fortunate, for having the Lord as their guest) and 'sarva bhūta hite ratāḥ' (engaged in the welfare of all beings). This benevolence defines their character. They welcomed Rama as an 'Atithi' (guest) and accommodated him in a 'parṇaśālā' (leaf-hut). The simplicity of the offering contrasts with Rama's royal background, yet the hospitality is perfect because it is offered with pure devotion. It highlights the sages' detachment from material wealth but deep attachment to Dharmic duty, of which hospitality is a pillar.

ऋषियों के दो विशेषण यहाँ महत्वपूर्ण हैं: 'महाभागाः' (बड़े भाग्य वाले, क्योंकि उन्हें राम की सेवा का अवसर मिला) और 'सर्व भूत हिते रताः' (सब प्राणियों के कल्याण में लीन)। अहिंसा और करुणा ऋषियों का स्वभाव है। उन्होंने राम को 'अतिथि' मानकर उनका सत्कार किया। 'पर्णशालायाम्' (पत्तों की कुटिया) का उल्लेख बताता है कि ऋषियों के पास महलों जैसे भवन नहीं थे, जो कुछ भी उनके पास था—प्रकृति की गोद में बनी कुटिया—वही उन्होंने आदरपूर्वक राम को अर्पित कर दी। अतिथि देवो भव की परंपरा का यह वनवासी संस्करण है।
