English Commentary
The attributes of the sages are climaxed here with 'Brahma-vidbhiḥ'—Knowers of Brahman. They are not just ritualists, but enlightened beings who have realized the Ultimate Reality. They are called 'Mahābhāgaiḥ' (greatly fortunate) because they possess the highest wealth—spiritual wisdom. The verse serves as a transition, setting up Rama's action in the next line. Rama is referred to as 'Shrīmān' (glorious/possessing grace), indicating that despite his exile and forest attire, his innate royal and divine luster remained undiminished. The visual contact between the Protector (Rama) and the Protected (Sages) is established here.

यहाँ ऋषियों को 'महाभाग' (अत्यंत भाग्यशाली) कहा गया है क्योंकि वे ईश्वर के समीप हैं और वन में रहकर भी परमानन्द का अनुभव कर रहे हैं। सबसे बड़ी उपाधि 'ब्रह्मविद्भिः' है—अर्थात वे केवल कर्मकांडी नहीं, बल्कि ब्रह्म (परम सत्य) के ज्ञाता थे। इस श्लोक में क्रिया अधूरी है जो अगले श्लोक (10) में पूर्ण होती है। यहाँ 'श्रीमान' शब्द का प्रयोग राम के लिए किया गया है, जो उनकी शोभा और राजसी गरिमा को दर्शाता है, भले ही वे वनवासी के वेश में हों। राम का इन ऋषियों को देखना, ज्ञान और कर्म (क्षत्रिय धर्म) के मिलन का सूचक है।
