Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अर्दिताः स्म भृशम् राम भवान् नः तत्र रक्षतु ।
होम काले तु संप्राप्ते पर्व कालेषु च अनघ ॥ ॥३-१०-११॥
Arditāḥ sma bhṛśam rāma bhavān naḥ tatra rakṣatu । Homa kāle tu saṃprāpte parva kāleṣu ca anagha ॥ ॥3-10-11॥
Translation
"...We are tormented greatly, O Rama. You must protect us there. Especially when the time for Homa (fire sacrifice) arrives and during the auspicious days, O sinless one."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"...हे राम! हम अत्यंत पीड़ित हैं। आप हमारी रक्षा करें। हे अनघ (पापरहित)! विशेषकर होम के समय और पर्व (अमावस्या, पूर्णिमा आदि) के अवसरों पर (वे आक्रमण करते हैं)।"
English Commentary
The sages specify the timing of the attacks to highlight the calculated malice of the Rakshasas. The attacks are coordinated with 'Homa kale' (time of fire oblation) and 'Parva kaleshu' (holy days like full moon), intending to disrupt the spiritual order of the world. Addressing Rama as 'Anagha' (sinless) is significant; it implies that although Rama will be required to kill, his action will remain pure because it serves the higher purpose of protecting the Yajna. It validates the use of force for a righteous cause.
