ताः चैव अप्सरसः पंच मुनेः पत्नीत्वम् आगताः ।
तटाके निर्मितम् तासाम् तस्मिन् अन्तर्हितम् गृहम् ॥ ॥३-११-१७॥
tāḥ caiva apsarasaḥ paṃca muneḥ patnītvam āgatāḥ |
taṭāke nirmitam tāsām tasmin antarhitam gṛham ॥3-11-17॥
Translation
Those five Apsaras became the wives of the sage. A hidden abode was constructed for them inside that very lake.

वे पांचों अप्सराएं मुनि की पत्नियां बन गईं। उस सरोवर के भीतर उनके लिए एक गुप्त (अन्तर्हित) घर का निर्माण किया गया।
English Commentary
The transition involves the celestial nymphs formally becoming the sage's wives. The mention of a 'hidden house inside the lake' ('taṭāke... antarhitam gṛham') adds a mystical element to the geography. It suggests that while the sage lost the merit for high heavens, he retained enough yogic power (siddhi) to create a supernatural underwater dwelling. This verse explains the origin of the specific locale Rama is visiting, framing it as a place of hidden pleasures and secret history.

ऋषि का पतन पूर्ण गृहस्थ जीवन में बदल गया, जहाँ अप्सराएं उनकी पत्नियां बन गईं। 'तटाके... अन्तर्हितम् गृहम्' (सरोवर के भीतर गुप्त घर) का वर्णन अत्यंत रहस्यमयी और रोचक है। यह माण्डकर्णि ऋषि की अलौकिक शक्तियों का भी परिचायक है कि उन्होंने जल के भीतर निवास स्थान बनाया। यह श्लोक उस स्थान की भौगोलिक और पौराणिक पृष्ठभूमि तैयार करता है जिसे राम देख रहे हैं। जल के भीतर का भवन विलासिता और एकांत का प्रतीक है।
