Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तौ पश्यमानौ विविधान् शैल प्रस्थान् वनानि च ।
नदीः च विविधा रम्या जग्मतुः सह सीतया ॥ ॥३-११-२॥
Tau paśyamānau vividhān śaila prasthān vanāni ca । Nadīḥ ca vividhā ramyā jagmatuḥ saha sītayā ॥ ॥3-11-2॥
Translation
“Those two (brothers), along with Sita, proceeded while looking at various mountain peaks, forests, and diverse beautiful rivers.”
हिंदी अनुवाद
“वे दोनों (भाई) सीता के साथ नाना प्रकार के पर्वतों के शिखरों, वनों और अनेक प्रकार की रमणीय नदियों को देखते हुए आगे बढ़े।”
English Commentary
Following the heavy ethical debate of the previous canto, this verse returns to the serene description of the journey. The phrase 'Pashyamanau' (observing/looking at) suggests that despite the looming threat of Rakshasas, the brothers retain their appreciation for nature's beauty. They observe the mountains, forests, and rivers with equanimity. It illustrates their balanced state of mind—alert to danger (bow in hand) yet open to the beauty of the world.

पिछले सर्ग के गंभीर दार्शनिक संवाद के बाद, यह श्लोक वातावरण को हल्का करता है। 'पश्यमानौ' (देखते हुए/अवलोकन करते हुए) दर्शाता है कि वन केवल भय का स्थान नहीं, बल्कि सौंदर्य का भी स्थान है। राम और लक्ष्मण प्रकृति प्रेमी हैं। वे कठिनाइयों के बीच भी प्रकृति के सौंदर्य—पर्वत, वन, नदी—का आनंद लेना नहीं भूलते। यह उनकी मानसिक स्थिरता और 'स्थितप्रज्ञ' होने का संकेत है।
