रमतः च आनुकूल्येन ययुः संवत्सरा दश ।
परिसृत्य च धर्मज्ञः राघवः सह सीतया ॥ ॥३-११-२७॥
ramataḥ ca ānukūlyena yayuḥ saṃvatsarā daśa |
parisṛtya ca dharmajñaḥ rāghavaḥ saha sītayā ॥3-11-27॥
Translation
Enjoying himself in this favorable manner, ten years passed away. The knower of Dharma, Raghava, along with Sita, spent this time circulating through the forest.

इस प्रकार अनुकूलता पूर्वक रमण करते हुए (विचरते हुए) दस वर्ष बीत गए। धर्मज्ञ राघव ने सीता के साथ घूम-फिर कर यह समय व्यतीत किया।
English Commentary
This is a pivotal narrative bridge. It condenses a decade of the 14-year exile into a single couplet. The phrase 'saṃvatsarā daśa' (ten years) indicates that the majority of the exile was peaceful and uneventful ('ānukūlyena'). This structural choice by Valmiki focuses the epic's action on the beginning (Ayodhya/Gangetic plains) and the tragic end (abduction/war), while the middle decade in Dandaka serves as a long, stable interlude of spiritual living before the storm.

यह रामायण के कालक्रम (timeline) का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण श्लोक है। 14 वर्षों के वनवास में से 10 वर्ष केवल इन कुछ श्लोकों में समेट दिए गए हैं। इसे 'दशवर्ष का शान्तिपर्व' कहा जा सकता है। 'आनुकूल्येन' (अनुकूलता से) बताता है कि राक्षसों का उपद्रव अभी चरम पर नहीं था। राम ने दंडकारण्य के ऋषियों के साथ गहरा संबंध बना लिया था। मुख्य कथा अब अंतिम कुछ वर्षों (विशेषकर 14वें वर्ष) की ओर मुड़ेगी, जहाँ संघर्ष होगा।
