Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
इति रामो मुनेः श्रुत्वा सह भ्रात्रा अभिवाद्य च ।
प्रतस्थे अगस्त्यम् उद्दिश्य सानुगः सह सीतया ॥ ॥३-११-४४॥
iti rāmo muneḥ śrutvā saha bhrātrā abhivādya ca । pratasthe agastyam uddiśya sānugaḥ saha sītayā ॥ ॥3-11-44॥
Translation
Hearing these words of the sage, Rama, along with his brother, offered salutations to the sage and set out with Sita and his follower (Lakshmana) towards Agastya.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुनि के ये वचन सुनकर, श्रीराम ने अपने भाई (लक्ष्मण) के साथ मुनि को प्रणाम किया और सीता तथा लक्ष्मण के साथ अगस्त्य मुनि के दर्शन के उद्देश्य से प्रस्थान किया।
English Commentary
This verse illustrates the profound humility and etiquette of Shri Rama. Upon receiving the counsel of Sage Sutikshna, he does not hesitate. Before departing, he and Lakshmana dutifully offer their salutations (Pranam) to the sage, upholding the tradition of seeking blessings from elders before a journey. The mention of departing with Sita and his brother highlights the unity of the trio. They leave with a singular focus: "Agastyam uddishya" (aiming for Agastya), marking the beginning of a significant phase in their exile where they move towards the deep south of the forest to meet the most reverent sage of the Dandaka forest.

यहाँ श्रीराम की शिष्टाचार और विनयशीलता का सुंदर चित्रण है। सुतीक्ष्ण मुनि का आदेश प्राप्त होते ही उन्होंने तनिक भी विलंब नहीं किया। प्रस्थान से पूर्व उन्होंने और लक्ष्मण ने विधिपूर्वक ऋषि को प्रणाम किया, जो गुरुजनों और तपस्वियों के प्रति रघुकुल की मर्यादा को दर्शाता है। 'सानुगः' और 'सह सीतया' शब्द यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि वनवास की कठिन यात्रा में भी श्रीराम ने अपने आश्रितों का साथ नहीं छोड़ा। यह प्रस्थान एक नई आध्यात्मिक यात्रा का आरंभ है, जहाँ वे दंडकारण्य के रक्षक के रूप में अगस्त्य मुनि से भेंट करने जा रहे हैं।
