ततः संपन्नम् इति उक्त्वा दत्त्वा हस्ते अवनेजनम् ।
भ्रातरम् निष्क्रमस्व इति च इल्वलः समभाषत ॥ ॥३-११-६२॥
tataḥ saṃpannam iti uktvā dattvā haste avanejanam । bhrātaram niṣkramasva iti ca ilvalaḥ samabhāṣata ॥ ॥3-11-62॥
Translation
Then, saying "It is done (the ritual is complete)" and offering water for washing hands, Ilvala called out, "O brother, come out!"
हिंदी अनुवाद
तदनंतर, 'श्राद्ध संपन्न हुआ' ऐसा कहकर और (अगस्त्य के) हाथ में हाथ धोने का जल (अवनेजन) देकर, इल्वल ने बोला—'हे भाई! बाहर निकलो'।
English Commentary
The scene captures the moment of dramatic irony. Ilvala follows his ritualistic script—declaring the ceremony complete and offering "avanejanam" (water for washing hands)—completely unaware that his brother has already been metabolized by the sage. He calls out "Come out" with the same arrogance as before. This moment heightens the anticipation for the climax, contrasting the demon's ignorance with the sage's calm, contained power.

यह श्लोक नाटकीय विडंबना (dramatic irony) से भरा है। इल्वल अपनी पुरानी पद्धति का पालन कर रहा है, यह न जानते हुए कि उसका सामना किससे हुआ है। उसने विधिपूर्वक हाथ धुलाये और अपनी विजय के प्रति आश्वस्त होकर भाई को पुकारा। यह असुर के अंत की शुरुआत है। उसका आत्मविश्वास ही उसके विनाश का कारण बना। ऋषि अगस्त्य शांत बैठे थे, जिससे इल्वल को लगा कि उसकी योजना सफल हो गई है।
