अथ तस्य वचः श्रुत्वा भ्रातुर् निधन संश्रितम् ।
प्रधर्षयितुम् आरेभे मुनिम् क्रोधात् निशा चरः ॥ ॥३-११-६५॥
atha tasya vacaḥ śrutvā bhrātur nidhana saṃśritam । pradharṣayitum ārebhe munim krodhāt niśā caraḥ ॥ ॥3-11-65॥
Translation
Hearing those words regarding the death of his brother, that night-wanderer (demon Ilvala) began to attack (assault) the sage out of anger.

अपने भाई के विनाश (मृत्यु) से संबंधित उस वचन को सुनकर, वह निशाचर (इल्वल) क्रोध से मुनि पर आक्रमण करने (धृष्टता करने) लगा।
English Commentary
The revelation triggers a violent reaction from Ilvala. 'Nidhana samshritam' refers to the news of the death. Driven by 'krodhat' (anger) and grief, the demon abandons his disguise and attempts to assault ('pradharshayitum') the sage. This marks the shift from deceitful psychological warfare to direct physical aggression. Ilvala's inability to recognize Agastya's power, even after his brother's demise, highlights the blinding nature of rage and arrogance typical of the Asura archetype in these texts.

भाई की मृत्यु का समाचार सुनकर इल्वल की प्रतिक्रिया स्वाभाविक थी—शोक और क्रोध। 'प्रधर्षयितुम्' का अर्थ है आक्रमण करना या अपमानित करना। अपनी योजना विफल होने और भाई को खोने के कारण उसका विवेक नष्ट हो गया। वह यह भूल गया कि जो ऋषि उसके भाई को पचा सकता है, उसका सामना करना कितना घातक हो सकता है। यह विनाशकाले विपरीत बुद्धि का उदाहरण है। इल्वल ने अब प्रत्यक्ष युद्ध का मार्ग चुना, जो उसके अंत का कारण बना।
