Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
तस्य अयम् आश्रमो भ्रातुः तटाक वन शोभितः ।
विप्र अनुकम्पया येन कर्म इदम् दुष्करम् कृतम् ॥ ॥३-११-६७॥
tasya ayam āśramo bhrātuḥ taṭāka vana śobhitaḥ । vipra anukampayā yena karma idam duṣkaram kṛtam ॥ ॥3-11-67॥
Translation
This hermitage, adorned with ponds and forests, belongs to the brother of him (Agastya) by whom this difficult deed was done out of compassion for the Brahmins.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यह आश्रम उन्हीं (अगस्त्य) के भाई का है, जो तालाबों और वनों से सुशोभित है। उन (अगस्त्य) ने ब्राह्मणों पर दया करके यह दुष्कर (कठिन) कार्य किया था।
English Commentary
Rama concludes the flashback, linking the history to their current location. He clarifies that this beautiful ashram, graced with ponds ('tataka') and woods, belongs to Agastya's brother. He reiterates the motive behind Agastya's feat: 'Vipra anukampaya' (compassion for the sages). Killing the demons was a 'dushkaram karma' (hard/difficult deed), impossible for others, yet Agastya performed it to restore peace. This verse connects the violent history of the land with its present serenity, attributing the peace to the sage's intervention.

श्रीराम कथा समाप्त करते हुए वर्तमान में लौटते हैं। वे स्पष्ट करते हैं कि जिस स्थान पर वे खड़े हैं, वह अगस्त्य के भाई (इध्मवाहन) का आश्रम है। 'तटाक वन शोभितः' बताता है कि अब यह क्षेत्र सुंदर और शांत है, जो अगस्त्य की विजय का परिणाम है। श्रीराम कहते हैं कि अगस्त्य ने यह 'दुष्कर' (अत्यंत कठिन) कार्य अपने लिए नहीं, बल्कि 'विप्र अनुकम्पया' (ब्राह्मणों/समाज पर दया) के कारण किया था। यह निस्वार्थ कर्म और लोक-कल्याण की भावना को रेखांकित करता है।
