प्रसन्न सलिले रम्ये तस्मिन् सरसि शुश्रुवे ।
गीत वादित्र निर्घोषो न तु कश्चन दृश्यते ॥ ॥३-११-७॥
Prasanna salile ramye tasmin sarasi śuśruve । Gīta vāditra nirghoṣo na tu kaścana dṛśyate ॥ ॥3-11-7॥
Translation
In that beautiful lake with clear waters, the sound of singing and musical instruments was heard, but no one was visible.

उस निर्मल जल वाले (प्रसन्न सलिले) रमणीय सरोवर में गीत और वाद्यों की ध्वनि सुनाई दे रही थी, किंतु कोई भी दिखाई नहीं दे रहा था।
English Commentary
This verse introduces the central mystery of the Panchapsara lake. The water is 'prasanna' (clear/placid), implying visibility, yet the source of the sound is hidden. The juxtaposition of distinct auditory evidence—'gita' (vocal music) and 'vaditra' (instrumental music)—against the visual void ('na tu kashcana drishyate') creates a supernatural atmosphere. It suggests a realm that exists parallel to the physical world, accessible to the ear but hidden from the eye.

यहाँ से कथा में 'अद्भुत रस' का प्रवेश होता है। 'प्रसन्न सलиле' (स्वच्छ/प्रसन्न जल) और अदृश्य संगीत के बीच विरोधाभास है। जहाँ जल इतना साफ है कि सब कुछ दिखना चाहिए, वहाँ संगीत का स्रोत अदृश्य है। 'गीत वादित्र निर्घोषो' (गायन और वाद्य यंत्रों का घोष) किसी उत्सव या विलास का संकेत देता है। यह स्थिति राम और लक्ष्मण के मन में कौतूहल उत्पन्न करती है, क्योंकि घोर जंगल में गंधर्व संगीत का सुनाई देना सामान्य घटना नहीं है।
