Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
सम्यक् प्रतिगृहीतः तु मुनिना तेन राघवः ।
न्यवसत् ताम् निशाम् एकाम् प्राश्य मूल फलानि च ॥ ॥३-११-७०॥
samyak pratigṛhītaḥ tu muninā tena rāghavaḥ । nyavasat tām niśām ekām prāśya mūla phalani ca ॥ ॥3-11-70॥
Translation
Raghava (Rama) was well received by that sage. Having eaten roots and fruits, he dwelt there for that one night.
हिंदी अनुवाद
उस मुनि ने राघव (श्रीराम) का भली-भांति स्वागत-सत्कार किया। श्रीराम ने कंद-मूल और फल खाकर वह एक रात वहां निवास किया।
English Commentary
The hospitality of the forest is simple yet dignified. The sage welcomes Rama warmly ('samyak pratigrihitah'). The meal consists of 'mula phalani' (roots and fruits), consistent with the ascetic lifestyle. Rama accepts this gracefully, showing his adaptability. They stay for 'one night,' indicating a temporary halt to refresh before the final leg of their journey to meet Agastya. It reflects the mutual respect between the royal exiles and the forest ascetics.

ऋषि ने श्रीराम का 'सम्यक्' (उचित/भली-भांति) स्वागत किया। यद्यपि यह वन था, तथापि आतिथ्य में कोई कमी नहीं थी। भोजन के रूप में 'मूल फलानि' (कंद-मूल और फल) का उल्लेख है, जो वानप्रस्थ जीवन का सात्विक आहार है। श्रीराम ने राजसी भोजन की अपेक्षा नहीं की। 'न्यवसत् ताम् निशाम् एकाम्' (एक रात निवास किया) स्पष्ट करता है कि यह केवल एक पड़ाव था, गंतव्य नहीं। उनका लक्ष्य अगले दिन अगस्त्य मुनि के पास जाना था।
