Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अयम् दीर्घ आयुषः तस्य लोके विश्रुत कर्मणः ।
अगस्त्यस्य आश्रमः श्रीमान् विनीत मृग सेवितः ॥ ॥३-११-८६॥
Ayam dīrgha āyuṣaḥ tasya loke viśruta karmaṇaḥ । Agastyasya āśramaḥ śrīmān vinīta mṛga sevitaḥ ॥ ॥3-11-86॥
Translation
This is the glorious hermitage of that long-lived Agastya, renowned in the world for his deeds; a hermitage served by humble deer.

यह उन्हीं दीर्घायु और संसार में अपने कर्मों के लिए विख्यात अगस्त्य मुनि का शोभा-युक्त आश्रम है, जहाँ विनम्र मृग निवास (सेवा) करते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama officially identifies the destination. The epithet Dirgha-ayushah acknowledges Agastya’s longevity, hinting at his mastery over time and death. Vishruta-karmanah reiterates his fame based on action. The description of the ashram as Shriman implies a spiritual radiance or majesty. The presence of Vinita mriga (humble/disciplined deer) is a poetic touch indicating that the discipline of the sage has rubbed off on the fauna. In Sanskrit poetics, the behavior of animals is often used to mirror the spiritual frequency of a location; here, it signifies absolute tranquility and safety.

राम अब आश्रम के बिल्कुल समीप हैं। अगस्त्य को 'दीर्घ आयुषः' (चिरंजीवी/लंबी आयु वाला) कहा गया है, जो उनकी तपस्या की शक्ति को दर्शाता है। आश्रम को 'श्रीमान्' (शोभाशाली/ऐश्वर्यवान) कहा गया है, जो भौतिक धन नहीं, बल्कि तपोवन की प्राकृतिक समृद्धि है। 'विनीत मृग सेवितः'—मृगों का विनम्र होना पुनः उस शांत रस का परिचायक है जो आश्रम में व्याप्त है। जानवर भी यहाँ जंगली वृत्ति छोड़कर शिष्ट हो गए हैं। राम के वचनों में गंतव्य पर पहुँचने का संतोष और ऋषि के प्रति अगाध आदर स्पष्ट झलकता है।
