Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
आराधयिष्यामि अत्र अहम् अगस्त्यम् तम् महामुनिम् ।
शेषम् च वन वासस्य सौम्य वत्स्यामि अहम् प्रभो ॥ ॥३-११-८८॥
Ārādhayiṣyāmi atra aham agastyam tam mahāmunim । Śeṣam ca vana vāsasya saumya vatsyāmi aham prabho ॥ ॥3-11-88॥
Translation
O gentle one! I will worship that great sage Agastya here, and I will spend the remainder of the forest exile (under his guidance), O capable one.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सौम्य! मैं यहाँ उन महामुनि अगस्त्य की आराधना करूँगा और वनवास का शेष समय (उन्हीं की कृपा/निर्देश में) व्यतीत करूँगा, हे प्रभु (समर्थ लक्ष्मण)।
English Commentary
Rama outlines his immediate intent: Aradhayishyami (I will worship/propitiate). This verb implies a deep reverence; he approaches not as a prince visiting a subject, but as a devotee visiting a deity. He states his intention to spend the rest of his exile (Sesham vana vasasya) in this context. This suggests that the wandering phase is over; he now seeks a base of operations sanctioned by Agastya. The address Prabho to Lakshmana is notable; while usually applied to superiors, Rama often uplifts Lakshmana by acknowledging his indispensable role and competence (Prabhutva) in managing their forest life.

यहाँ राम अपनी योजना बता रहे हैं। उनका मुख्य उद्देश्य अगस्त्य की 'आराधना' (पूजा/सत्कार) करना है। 'शेषम् च वन वासस्य... वत्स्यामि' का अर्थ है कि राम वनवास की बची हुई अवधि को सफल बनाने के लिए अगस्त्य का आश्रय या निर्देश चाहते हैं। यद्यपि वे बाद में पंचवटी चले जाते हैं, पर वह निर्णय भी अगस्त्य के निर्देशानुसार ही होता है, इसलिए यह कथन सत्य ही रहता है। राम लक्ष्मण को 'प्रभो' संबोधित करते हैं, जो लक्ष्मण की क्षमता और वन में उनके द्वारा दी जा रही सुरक्षा के प्रति सम्मान सूचक हो सकता है, या यह भावावेश में प्रेमपूर्ण संबोधन है।
