Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अत्र देवाः सगन्धर्वाः सिद्धाः च परम ऋषयः ।
अगस्त्यम् नियत आहाराः सततम् पर्युपासते ॥ ॥३-११-८९॥
Atra devāḥ sagandharvāḥ siddhāḥ ca parama ṛṣayaḥ । Agastyam niyata āhārāḥ satatam paryupāsate ॥ ॥3-11-89॥
Translation
Here, gods together with Gandharvas, Siddhas, and supreme sages, observing dietary restraints, constantly worship Agastya.

यहाँ देवता, गन्धर्व, सिद्ध और परम ऋषिगण, नियत आहार (संयम) करते हुए निरंतर अगस्त्य मुनि की उपासना करते हैं।
English Commentary
Rama reveals the transcendental nature of the ashram. It is a convergence point for celestial beings—Devas, Gandharvas, and Siddhas. Interestingly, even these celestial beings are described as Niyata-aharah (controlled in diet/disciplined) when they are here. This signifies that the rules of the hermitage supersede the privileges of heaven; even gods must behave as ascetics in Agastya's presence. This elevates Agastya to a level above standard hierarchy, positioning him as a 'Guru of the Gods'. It prepares Lakshmana for the divine atmosphere they are about to encounter.

यह श्लोक अगस्त्य के आश्रम को एक अंतर-आयामी (inter-dimensional) केंद्र के रूप में स्थापित करता है। यहाँ केवल मनुष्य ही नहीं, बल्कि देवता और गन्धर्व भी आते हैं। 'नियत आहाराः' (सीमित भोजन/संयम) यह दर्शाता है कि देवता भी यहाँ आकर भोग-विलास त्यागकर तपस्वी की भाँति आचरण करते हैं। यह अगस्त्य की श्रेष्ठता सिद्ध करता है—वे केवल ऋषियों के नहीं, बल्कि देवताओं के भी पूज्य हैं। 'पर्युपासते' का अर्थ है चारों ओर से घेरकर सेवा/उपासना करना। राम लक्ष्मण को बता रहे हैं कि वे एक अत्यंत पवित्र और उच्च ऊर्जा वाले स्थान में प्रवेश कर रहे हैं।
