वैदेहीम् च महाभागाम् इदम् वचनम् अब्रवीत् ।
दिष्ट्या रामः चिरस्य अद्य द्रष्टुम् माम् समुपागतः ॥ ॥३-१२-१०॥
Vaidehīm ca mahābhāgām idam vacanam abravīt |
Diṣṭyā rāmaḥ cirasya adya draṣṭum mām samupāgataḥ ॥3-12-10॥
Translation
Speaking of the highly fortunate Sita (and the brothers), he uttered these words: "By good fortune, after a long time, Rama has come today to see me."

उन्होंने महाभागा सीता और (लक्ष्मण सहित राम) के विषय में यह वचन कहा - "बड़े भाग्य की बात है कि बहुत समय बाद आज राम मेरे दर्शन के लिए यहाँ पधारे हैं।"
English Commentary
Sage Agastya uses the word 'Dishtya' (by good fortune/destiny), indicating his immense joy and humility. Even though he is a supreme Rishi and Rama is appearing as a human prince, Agastya views Rama's visit as a reward for his own penance. The reference to Sita as 'Mahabhagam' (highly illustrious/fortunate) acknowledges her supreme status and sacrifice alongside Rama. Agastya’s statement that Rama has come "to see me" reflects the affectionate bond between them, devoid of ego. It emphasizes that the meeting was long-awaited ('cirasya'), suggesting that the sage had been holding his life breath in anticipation of this divine encounter to aid the mission against Ravana.

महर्षि अगस्त्य यहाँ 'दिष्ट्या' (भाग्य से) शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं, जो राम के प्रति उनके अगाध प्रेम और सम्मान को दर्शाता है। यद्यपि राम एक क्षत्रिय राजकुमार के रूप में वन में हैं और अगस्त्य एक ब्रह्मऋषि हैं, फिर भी अगस्त्य मानते हैं कि परमात्मा का उनके आश्रम में आना उनके स्वयं के पुण्य का फल है। यहाँ सीता जी के लिए 'महाभागाम्' (महान भाग्य वाली) विशेषण का प्रयोग किया गया है, जो उनके पातिव्रत्य और त्याग को रेखांकित करता है। अगस्त्य मुनि का यह कथन कि राम 'मुझे देखने आए हैं' (द्रष्टुम् माम्), उनकी विनम्रता और वात्सल्य को प्रकट करता है, जैसे एक पिता पुत्र की प्रतीक्षा करता है।
