अभिवाद्य अब्रवीत् शिष्यः तथा इति नियत अंजलिः ।
तदा निष्क्रम्य संभ्रान्तः शिष्यो लक्ष्मणम् अब्रवीत् ॥ ॥३-१२-१३॥
Abhivādya abravīt śiṣyaḥ tathā iti niyata añjaliḥ |
Tadā niṣkramya sambhrāntaḥ śiṣyo lakṣmaṇam abravīt ॥3-12-13॥
Translation
The disciple, with folded hands, saluted and said, "So be it." Then, exiting hurriedly (excitedly), the disciple spoke to Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
शिष्य ने हाथ जोड़कर प्रणाम करते हुए "जी, बहुत अच्छा (तथा इति)" कहा। तब उसने बाहर निकलकर, (हर्ष और शीघ्रता के कारण) घबराए हुए से लक्ष्मण जी से कहा।
English Commentary
The disciple's response "Tatha iti" (So be it) with folded hands ('niyata anjalih') signifies total obedience. The word 'Sambhrantah' is key here; while it can mean confused or bewildered, in this context, it suggests a mix of flurry, excitement, and haste caused by the gravity of the command and the illustriousness of the guest. The disciple catches the urgency from his Guru and rushes out. He is overwhelmed by the occasion—facilitating the meeting between the greatest Sage and the greatest Prince. His hurried exit contrasts with the calm demeanor usually expected in an ashram, highlighting the exceptional nature of this visit.

शिष्य की प्रतिक्रिया यहाँ गुरु आज्ञा पालन का आदर्श उदाहरण है। 'तथा इति' (जैसा आप कहते हैं) कहकर उसने तुरंत आज्ञा स्वीकार की। 'संभ्रान्तः' शब्द यहाँ भय के लिए नहीं, बल्कि 'हर्ष-विभोर' होने या 'शीघ्रता' के लिए प्रयुक्त हुआ है। गुरु की अधीरता देखकर शिष्य भी तत्परता से भागा ताकि राम को शीघ्र भीतर ला सके। यह शब्द उस मानसिक स्थिति को दर्शाता है जब कोई बहुत बड़े व्यक्तित्व के स्वागत के लिए अति-उत्साहित और थोड़ा व्यग्र होता है कि कहीं सेवा में कोई चूक न हो जाए। शिष्य का यह व्यवहार वातावरण में व्याप्त भक्ति और सम्मान की सघनता को प्रकट करता है।
