अभिवाद्य तु धर्मात्मा तस्थौ रामः कृतांजलिः ।
सीतया सह वैदेह्या तदा रामः स लक्ष्मणः ॥ ॥३-१२-२५॥
Abhivādya tu dharmātmā tasthau rāmaḥ kṛtāñjaliḥ |
Sītayā saha vaidehyā tadā rāmaḥ sa lakṣmaṇaḥ ॥3-12-25॥
Translation
Having saluted him, the righteous-souled Rama stood with folded hands, along with Sita, the princess of Videha, and Lakshmana.

अभिवादन करके धर्मात्मा राम, विदेहराज की पुत्री सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ हाथ जोड़े हुए खड़े हो गए।
English Commentary
After the prostration, the posture shifts to 'Kritanjali' (folded hands), the universal gesture of respect and waiting for instruction. Rama is called 'Dharmatma' here because adhering to the etiquette of honoring sages is a key aspect of Dharma. He stands with Sita and Lakshmana, presenting a united front of devotion. The picture is of the divine trio standing humbly before the sage, stripping themselves of their royal past and presenting themselves purely as seekers in the forest.

चरण स्पर्श के बाद की मुद्रा 'कृतांजलिः' (हाथ जोड़े हुए) है। राम 'धर्मात्मा' हैं, वे जानते हैं कि गुरुजन के सामने कैसे खड़े होना चाहिए। वे अकेले नहीं, बल्कि सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ एक पंक्ति में या समूह में विनयपूर्वक खड़े हैं। यह दृश्य एक आदर्श शिष्य या यजमान का है जो गुरु की कृपा प्राप्त करने के लिए तत्पर है। सीता के लिए 'वैदेह्या' विशेषण उनके उच्च संस्कारों को याद दिलाता है। तीनों का मौन और विनय अगस्त्य मुनि को उन्हें आशीष देने और स्वीकार करने के लिए आमंत्रित करता है।
