Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अगस्त्येन एवम् उक्तः तु रामः सौमित्रिणा सह ।
सत्कृत्य आमंत्रयामास तम् ऋषिम् सत्य वादिनम् ॥ ॥३-१३-२३॥
Agastyena evam uktaḥ tu rāmaḥ saumitriṇā saha । Satkṛtya āmantrayāmāsa tam ṛṣim satya vādinam ॥ ॥3-13-23॥
Translation
Being thus addressed by Agastya, Rama, along with Lakshmana, honored that truth-speaking Sage and bade him farewell.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अगस्त्य मुनि के द्वारा इस प्रकार कहे जाने पर, लक्ष्मण सहित राम ने उन सत्यवादी ऋषि का सत्कार (अभिवंदन) किया और उनसे जाने की अनुमति माँगी।
English Commentary
The etiquette of departure is meticulously observed here. Before leaving, Rama and Lakshmana offer 'satkriya' (honors/reverence) to the sage. The epithet 'satya vadinam' (speaker of truth) applied to Agastya is profound. It implies that his words are not merely advice but prophetic utterances (Vak-Siddhi). Even though tragedy awaits them in Panchavati, the sage's direction is the "truth" of their destiny. By calling him truthful, the text affirms that Rama trusts the sage's guidance implicitly, understanding that the path shown by a Brahma-Rishi, however difficult, leads to the ultimate triumph of Dharma.

यहाँ राम और लक्ष्मण की 'गुरु-निष्ठा' और शिष्टाचार प्रदर्शित होता है। जाने से पूर्व वे ऋषि का 'सत्कार' (सम्मान/पूजा) करते हैं। ऋषि के लिए 'सत्य वादिनम्' (सत्य बोलने वाले) विशेषण का प्रयोग बहुत गहरा है। इसका अर्थ केवल 'झूठ न बोलने वाला' नहीं है, बल्कि 'वाक-सिद्ध' है। अर्थात, अगस्त्य ने पंचवटी के विषय में जो भी कहा है (कि वहाँ सीता सुखी रहेंगी), वह भविष्य में किसी न किसी रूप में सत्य सिद्ध होगा। यद्यपि सीता का हरण वहीं से होगा, किन्तु राम-रावण युद्ध और अधर्म के नाश की नींव भी वहीं पड़ेगी, जो अंततः विश्व का कल्याण (सत्य) ही है। राम ऋषि के वचनों पर पूर्ण श्रद्धा रखते हुए विदा लेते हैं।
