प्रजापतेः तु दक्षस्य बभूवुर् इति विश्रुतम् ।
षष्टिर् दुहितरो राम यशस्विन्यो महायशः ॥ ॥३-१४-१०॥
Prajāpateḥ tu dakṣasya babhūvur iti viśrutam |
Ṣaṣṭir duhitaro rāma yaśasvinyo mahāyaśaḥ ॥3-14-10॥
Translation
O highly illustrious Rama! It is well-known that the Prajapati Daksha had sixty famous daughters.

हे महायशस्वी राम! यह विख्यात है कि प्रजापति दक्ष की साठ यशस्विनी कन्याएं हुईं।
English Commentary
Moving from the progenitors to the expansion of lineage, Jatayu mentions the sixty daughters of Daksha Prajapati. In Puranic cosmology, these daughters are the matriarchs of the entire animate creation. They were married to various sages and deities to propagate life. By addressing Rama as 'Mahayashah' (one of great fame), Jatayu creates a parallel between the famous daughters of Daksha and the famous scion of Raghu. The phrase 'iti vishrutam' (thus it is renowned) emphasizes that Jatayu is reciting established authoritative history (Itihasa), validating his role as a keeper of ancient knowledge.

जटayu अब मूल वंशावली से विस्तार की ओर बढ़ते हैं। दक्ष प्रजापति की ६० कन्याओं का उल्लेख भारतीय पुराणों में सृष्टि विस्तार के मूल कारण के रूप में आता है। इन कन्याओं का विवाह विभिन्न ऋषियों और देवताओं से हुआ, जिनसे चराचर जगत की उत्पत्ति हुई। जटayu श्रीराम को 'महायशः' (महान यश वाले) कहकर संबोधित करते हैं, जो यह दर्शाता है कि वे राम की कीर्ति और कुल की मर्यादा से भली-भांति परिचित हैं। 'इति विश्रुतम्' (ऐसा सुना जाता है/विख्यात है) का प्रयोग बताता है कि जटayu जो कह रहे हैं वह लोक-प्रसिद्ध ऐतिहासिक सत्य है, न कि केवल उनकी कल्पना।
