सौवर्णै राजतैः ताम्रैः देशे देशे च धातुभिः ।
गवाक्षिता इव आभान्ति गजाः परम भक्तिभिः ॥३-१५-१५॥
sauvarṇai rājataiḥ tāmraiḥ deśe deśe ca dhātubhiḥ |
gavākṣitā iva ābhānti gajāḥ parama bhaktibhiḥ ॥3-15-15॥
Translation
With veins of gold, silver, and copper ores appearing in various places, the mountains look like elephants decorated with exquisite painted designs.
हिंदी अनुवाद
सोने, चांदी और तांबे की धातुओं (की रेखाओं) से युक्त वे पर्वत जगह-जगह ऐसे प्रतीत हो रहे हैं मानो उत्तम नक्काशी (भक्ति) से सजाए गए हाथी हों।
English Commentary
This verse showcases Rama's poetic imagination. He observes the streaks of mineral ores—gold, silver, and copper—running across the mountain slopes. He compares the mountains to "gajah" (elephants) adorned with "parama bhaktibhih" (exquisite artistic lines/decorations). In ancient India, elephants were painted with intricate designs for processions. Rama sees nature mimicking royal art. It suggests that even in the wild, he perceives the grandeur of royalty, transforming a rugged landscape into a majestic tableau through his artistic vision.

यह राम की कवित्व शक्ति और कल्पनाशक्ति का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। पर्वतों पर धातुओं (सोना, चांदी, तांबा) की रंग-बिरंगी धारियाँ दिखाई दे रही हैं। राम को ये धारियाँ ऐसी लगती हैं जैसे किसी उत्सव में हाथियों के शरीर पर 'भक्ति' (रेखाएं/चित्रकारी) बनाई गई हो। 'गवाक्षिता' का अर्थ यहाँ झरोखे नहीं, बल्कि उस सजावट से है जो हाथी की पीठ या मस्तक पर की जाती है। यह उपमा प्रकृति की भव्यता (पर्वत) और राजसी ऐश्वर्य (सजा हुआ हाथी) का सुंदर मिश्रण है, जो राम को अपने अयोध्या के दिनों की स्मृति भी दिलाती है।
