इदम् पुण्यम् इदम् रम्यम् इदं बहु मृग द्विजम् ।
इह वत्स्याम सौमित्रे सार्धम् एतेन पक्षिणा ॥३-१५-१९॥
idam puṇyam idam ramyam idam bahu mṛga dvijam |
iha vatsyāma saumitre sārdham etena pakṣiṇā ॥3-15-19॥
Translation
This place is holy, this is beautiful, and this is teeming with animals and birds. O Sumitra's son! Here we shall reside, along with this bird (Jatayu).
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सुमित्रानंदन! यह स्थान पवित्र है, यह रमणीय है और यहाँ बहुत से मृग और पक्षी हैं। हम इसी स्थान पर इस पक्षी (जटायु) के साथ निवास करेंगे।
English Commentary
Rama pronounces the final verdict on the site. He summarizes its virtues: "Punyam" (holy/auspicious), "Ramyam" (aesthetically pleasing), and full of life. The crucial operational decision is "sardham etena pakshina" (together with this bird). This signifies the formal inclusion of Jatayu into their domestic sphere. It is a strategic alliance; living "with" Jatayu means living under the surveillance of a powerful aerial guardian. It comforts Sita and assures Lakshmana that they have backup in this hostile territory.

राम अंतिम निर्णय सुनाते हैं। वे स्थान के तीन गुण बताते हैं—'पुण्यम्' (पवित्र/दोषरहित), 'रम्यम्' (सुंदर/मनोरम) और 'बहु मृग द्विजम्' (जीवंत पारिस्थितिकी)। सबसे महत्वपूर्ण वाक्यांश है—'सार्धम् एतेन पक्षिणा' (इस पक्षी के साथ)। राम जटायु को अपने परिवार का सदस्य मानकर स्थान दे रहे हैं। यद्यपि जटायु अलग वृक्ष पर रहेंगे, परंतु 'साथ रहेंगे' कहना राम की समावेशी दृष्टि और जटayu के प्रति सम्मान को दर्शाता है। यह एक सुरक्षित और सामाजिक वातावरण का निर्माण है, जहाँ वे अकेले नहीं, बल्कि एक शक्तिशाली मित्र के संरक्षण में हैं।
